A Better Way Counseling Service

Gina Kanagawa Schwartz - LMFT, ATRGina Kanagawa Schwartz - LMFT, ATR

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and registered Art Therapist. I use an eclectic approach to therapy that is highly individualized to you, your goals, your strengths, and the challenges you face from day-to-day. More specifically, I like to weave creative techniques into my practice of DBT, psychodynamic, and client-centered therapies.

I love working with children, teens, young adults, parents, and families. In our collaborative work together, I assist my clients in exploring any barriers to achieving balance and happiness in their daily lives, and with experiencing satisfying and meaningful relationships. Once obstacles are identified and understood, sessions are a safe place to break out of old patterns by trying new things, and practicing a more authentic, mindful way of living, within a climate of acceptance and respect.

Within my practice (past and present), I have a special commitment to helping children and youth. Since I was in high school, I have wanted to learn how to make a positive, enduring difference in the lives of children, especially those who are struggling daily to cope or who feel alone in the world. Years of experience working in the educational system provided me with opportunities to work with children from preschool age to high school - both individually and in groups - and to learn how to assist children and teens to be more successful at school. I have extensive experience treating youth on the Autism spectrum, as well as supporting their families as they cope with the special challenges associated with those conditions.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and my practice.

I am currently accepting new clients, and would be honored for the opportunity to meet with you in person.
