Ashley Green - LICSW
I grew up in the Catskill mountains of New York, moving to Montana when I was 20 to have an adventure and make my own way. It became my home for 12 years and the place I was blessed to find my husband, my family, and my life's path.
After exploring the Southeast for a few years, we settled in Vancouver in the summer of 2017. I've learned a great deal about "trusting the process" and allowing life to unfold in unpredictable, exciting, terrifying, and wonderful ways! I apply this perspective in my own life and with my clients.
I believe struggle is part of the human experience that serves as a catalyst for healing and growth, and that we heal through connection, compassion, awareness, and authenticity. It is my job and gift to "hold space" for you and to help facilitate and support your healing process.
I blend traditional therapy methods with mindfulness, yoga, and alternative energy practices to address the whole person/whole family. I offer highly individualized and flexible support, including in-home, phone, and community sessions, as well as office based sessions depending on the needs.
My specialties are working with clients on self-worth, self-awareness, and self-care issues, which I believe contribute to many symptoms of mental health and substance abuse struggles, and working with parents, couples, and families with complex needs.
I started my private practice in Vancouver in 2018 when I moved here from North Carolina, but have practiced independently since my licensure in 2013. I see clients in both Vancouver and Portland, and am licensed in both Washington and Oregon. I also work with clients remotely from all over the country.
I have over 10 years of experience in a variety of mental health settings. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Montana in 2010, and spent the early part of my career providing and managing intensive in home services with children and families. I managed and developed the Missoula County Youth Crisis Diversion Project, designed to keep kids at high risk in their homes and community using wraparound support.
I have also worked in the fields of addictions and wilderness therapy, served as adjunct faculty at the University of Montana, provided clinical supervision across agency and academic settings, and consulted with organizations and state agencies to improve mental health services. I am currently a national trainer with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and also provide training for mental health practitioners in how to integrate mindfulness into clinical practice.
