Ruth Rogers, ARNP, PMHNP-BC comes to her work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a broad set of experiences. These include a childhood in Japan, an initial degree in electrical engineering, raising three amazing children, and a previous career in the tech industry that culminated with leading a team of programmers for a national computer systems company.
When the tech industry crashed after 9/11, she decided it was time to move her energies in a new direction, and attended Linfield College School of Nursing. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, she initially worked as a psychiatric RN in inpatient psychiatry settings in the Portland, Oregon area, and soon entered graduate school at Washington State University in Vancouver in pursuit of a Masters in Nursing. She did her internship in community mental health, and upon graduation earned her licensure as a psychiatric / mental health nurse practitioner in both Washington and Oregon.
She spent her first three and a half years working full-time in hospital settings as part of a psychiatric consultation and liaison team, with occasional additional work in community mental health agencies. In 2015, she left her hospital position and opened her outpatient practice in downtown Vancouver. Ruth also prescribes for chronically mentally ill patients in the community as part of a state program to help individuals maintain stability and remain housed in the least restrictive setting possible.
In 2017, Ruth and her friend Kim, a family nurse practitioner, together with their husbands, joined forces to open Serenity TMS, the nation's first nurse practitioner owned and operated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) clinic here in Vancouver, providing a previously unavailable treatment option in this area for sufferers of treatment-resistent depression.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) offers new hope to sufferers of severe major depression which has not adequately responded to medication or other conventional treatment modalities.
